Here is a rendered scene, looks pretty. It's a shame that we wont get it ready for hand in

Doing it all MYSELF
the reason we did not finish the film on time is that i tried to do too much. I didn't trust my group members to be able to create the character to the quality i wanted.
Modeling
I wanted to model the characters myself so that they will be right for animation. Also that they stay true to my concepts.
Rigging
My group members only new basic rigging, so i had to take this on aswell. The main thing that was needed in the rigs were the IK/FK switch which many people do not know how to setup. Extra things like the characters hip being able to move independently of the top half of the body.
Animation
My group members are not animators so i took over the animation. The piece of animation they did do was ok but i still had to edit the to improve it.

Rendering
We can't finish rendering the whole film ready for friday. we've underestimated how long it takes to render. The main reason it is taking so long is that we are using ambient occlusion.

Sound
We have the track we are using for the chase sequence, but the sound effects for the whole film can not be fully done until we finish the final layout of the film. This is because if we lay the sound now and we were to change the films timing in the future it will throw everything out of sync.
This means we wont have the sound reafy for hand in on friday, but it will be ready for the degree show.

Bin Pick up reworked
I've finally finished the monster bin animation. it definitly moves alot more convinving than my previous attempt. I guess i've taken the easier option by the character not picking up the bin.

Re-editing
I had to edit mutila's animation. The animation he did was abit to jerky. i've added a few steps to the animation so the character walks into the shot rather than him being in the shot already.
This my version

Bin throw
Spoke to Dan Dali this week and he noted that the animation of the monster picking up the bin is very weak compared to the rest of the film. I agree with, the problem is that the bin is quite large and it is parented to only one of the monsters hand so it is very difficult animate the bin in cunjuction with the monsters hand.

Run and slip with Monster
I've added the monster to the scene, the chase sequence is still pretty slow. Animation need more work. but am sticking with this camera angles.

Run and slip
Animation test of steve running and slipping. It is still very rough, the pacing needs working on. He doesn't fall quick enough, needs a general rework.

Monster Crawl Cycle
Created a crawl cycle for the monster. He will be on all four in scenes of the film especially in the chase sequence. I think it moves quite convincing.

Steve walk cycle
This the cycle we will be using for the scene when Steve walks through the alleyway. I tried to make it as comical as possible. he looks left and right at the different graffiti on the wall.

Monster walk cycle
finished walk cycle for the monster. I've paid special attention to the hands, I want them to look really heavy and weight the monster down as he is walking

Animating Myself
I've decided to take over the rest of the animtion myself, which is bad idea but i want to keep consistency in the animation. Ben and Mutila's animation are not quite up to the standard i wanted for the film.
Here is a sample of Mutila's animation

Camera angle
I've tested camera angles for the chase sequence of the film and i've settle on this one. This shot will allow us to se both steve and the monster in the same shot.

Lighting Issues
Am not too happy with the way the lighting is going at the moment. From the beginning i intended to set the scene in the afternoon but i was swayed a little by the tutors to set it at night.
but i settled for evening setting. At the moment the with the character in the scene it looks very dark and gloomy, and we don't get to see the best ofd the environment which would be a shame as Mutila did a very good job on the modelling.
Also it would be hard to see the monster clearly once it merges into the wall. All the memebers of the group but Ben Woodhead agree with me. Ben wants to keep it at night as he feels he has worked on it for a long time and doesn't want it scrapped. He also feels the film would lack atmosphear if it was set in the day time. I feel it should definitly be brighter.

Final Model
Finally finished the monster, it took a while but it's finally done. The monster is based around Komodo Dragons. I didn't draw the character down first before begining modelling which is a vry bad idea but i had not time to draw up a concept first. I really pleased with the final result, this version definitly looks alot scarier than the previous two. I've aske Luke to come up with colour concepts for the character.
I aim to get it fully rigged in four days.

Monster design to be reworked
I've decided to scrap my two previous deisigns of the monster they are not menacing enough for the film. I will work over it this week. I will aim to get it finished latest by next week friday. The group agree that the character needed chaging aswell.

IK/FK switch
i've finally got the IK/FK switch working. I had to mix different methods from tutorials on the net. They all had different methods. I found the tutorial on http://www.rigging101.com/ the most useful.

Story
I've chaged the story slightly. Rather than having the alley way on the other side of the street, i've made to be right next to the pub. This way the story can move on slightly quick. so as soon as he comes out of the pub he then turns into the alleyway.
The traffic scene is out and the scene of him knocking into people to is out.
